MindfulBeginnings
Hello!
My name is Meagan. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and owner of Mindful Beginnings, PLLC. I am a mother, daughter, sister, friend, yogi, dog lover and public speaker. Like most Mommas I am running on a wing and a prayer most days trying to do it all. My 12 year old daughter is my world and being her Mom is my biggest blessing. I am lucky to have amazing friends and family who support me in all I do. I have always wanted to take a chance at writing a blog and since 2025 is beginning a year of YES for me (I'm sure you'll find a blog post on that on my page)- it felt like the right time to give it a go! As I thought about writing this, I struggled to decide if I should write it from a therapy perspective, giving readers advice on things they could try to use to create some shifts in their systems OR should I write from the perspective of a 40-year-old single Mom who is navigating things just as humanly as everyone else. And then I figured why not do both. Why not show up wholehearted, as you are, all of the mess and beauty in one place. So here I am, diving in, with the hope that this can become a safe place for my readers and for my stories and that if I'm lucky I can touch a few lives in the process.
My Therapy Story
In 8th grade I would come home from school and do my homework listening to Dr. Laura on AM radio before dinner. Listening to people's stories has always been such a moving experience for me and something I knew I always wanted to do. After graduating from East Carolina University in 2006, I went to graduate school at Valdosta State University in Georgia and I have been practicing therapy since graduating in 2009. I have had the opportunity to do community and in-home therapy, work on Fort Bragg with soldiers exiting the military and for several years as a school counselor in both a college setting and private K-12 school before eventually starting my own private practice. I feel incredibly blessed to get to walk alongside other's in their journeys and now see clients virtually throughout the state of North Carolina. I specialize in empowering individuals and couples working through life transitions. Whether it be healing your past traumas, prioritizing self-care, setting healthy boundaries or identifying and breaking unhealthy patterns, I am well versed in working with a myriad of issues. Some of my niche areas include: Veterans and their families, blended families, navigating divorce, postpartum transitions, motherhood and couples work. I work from a strength-based and client-centered stance that focuses on helping clients create or enhance healthy relationships with themselves and others. I have completed the level 1 and level 2 trainings in EMDR and my RYT-200 Yoga Teacher Training. I also really enjoy offering in person or virtual presentations for organizations to address any mental health needs for in their community.
